cbe's Lactation Medicine Programme has been approved by the Accreditation and Approval Review Committee (AARC) on Education in Human Lactation and Breastfeeding. nbci is also a long-term provider with IBLCE for Continuing Education Recognition Points (CERPs).  For more information about AARC, please visit www.aarclactation.org.


cbe is responsible for the educational and training programmes at the International Breastfeeding Centre (ibc), which is situated in Toronto, Canada. Our faculty consists of a multi-disciplinary team including guest lecturers who are specialized in their respective areas of lactation medicine.

The Lactation Medicine Programme is comprehensive as it includes a didactic learning component and a practical component (the critical element of the programme) that fosters a unique level of competency when caring for the breastfeeding dyad.  The practical component of the programme is held at the Newman Breastfeeding Clinic.


MISSION STATEMENT:

  • To raise and uphold consistent standards in the study, teaching, and practice of lactation medicine and to encourage and expect continuing education, solid research, and standards of excellence in clinical practice
  • To promote public and professional awareness of the importance of the International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) as an integral part of the healthcare team
  • To promote the profession of the IBCLC

  • To be an internationally respected and critically acclaimed centre of excellence in the study and teaching of lactation medicine, and the practice of breastfeeding management and support
